The Resurrection of the American Pulpit in American Politics

We are experiencing a strange but powerful political phenomena across this nation today, one that now appears to be making it's way into churches, synagogues, mosques and temples. Political dialogue is beginning to take root in many houses of worship with ministers speaking boldly on the mandatory significance of character, morality and integrity amongst other items that should enter into the decision making process of the voter. They are encouraging members to examine where the politicians stand and how they voted on topics such as balancing budgets, debt, job creation, taxes, government funded abortions, nationalized health care and education.

Given the state of the nation today primarily as it relates to our social and economic failures, the church is deciding it can no longer sit idly by without voicing their opposition to injustice.  They are encouraging their congregations to become engaged in local, state and federal politics. Many religious leaders, church elders and ministers are participating in political rallies and grass roots efforts to mobilize and educate voters.

Ironically it is a new take on the movie "Back to the Future" that is appearing on the streets of America today. Rather than focusing on a single family such as the McFly's, this plot is centered around the direction of a nation. Jump into the Delorean time machine back to Scrooby, England in the early 1600's and witness the birth of the Separatist Movement which later led to the first great American history book: "Of Plymouth Plantation" by William Bradford. The pilgrims traveled with diligence, hard labor, pain and enormous personal sacrifices to plant our foundation. These were Godly and zealous people that fought for religious freedom from intolerance.  They did so by applying Biblical truths to civil affairs as witnessed in the signing of "The Mayflower Compact"

Punch the Delorean time clock to 1740-1760 for an eyewitness account of America's "Great Awakening" period.  During this time line, historical accounts and biographies affirm that the spirit of God swept mightily through the colonies. Whole towns began to dedicate themselves to God. Benjamin Franklin wrote of this period by stating: "It seemed as though all the world were growing religious, so no one could not walk thro' the town in an evening without hearing psalms sung in different families of every street"

This proved to be the foundational education leading up to the American Revolution for many, including John Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. Time and space does not permit for the thousands of examples the clergy played in the cultivation of Christian ideas pertaining to liberty of these United States.

But perhaps it can be best summed up by the research of Dr Donald Lutz, a professor of science from the University of Houston. He conducted a 10 year study, analyzing about 15,000 POLITICAL DOCUMENTS of the Founder's Era (1760-1805). This list of 3,154 citations was analyzed and published in Volume #78 of The American Political Science Review in 1983. By far the most popular source of their political ideas was the Bible, accounting for 1/3 of all their citations. Another 60% of all references can be attributed to authors which themselves derived their ideas from the Bible.  Therefore it can be said with certainty that 94% of our constitutional principles, mandates and concepts are based directly or indirectly on the Bible.  Lutz later did a study from 76 of the most representative pamphlets and essays written by our founders.  In these 76 essays, "virtue" is emphasized as vital over 300 times!

Religion continued to play a significant role in the education of the early presidents, vice-presidents, supreme court justices, members of congress and many others.  Considered by many to be our greatest president and divinely guided, Abraham Lincoln wrote "The only assurance of our nation's safety is to lay our foundation in morality and religion"  Before that in 1845, Andrew Jackson wrote "The Bible is the rock on which our republic rests"

Throughout our history up through the better part of the 20th century, we looked with confidence and reliance upon the clergy, the church and it's teachings.  A modern day example would be Billy Grahams work not only throughout the world but with personalized counseling with many American presidents, political and judicial leaders as well as business giants.  Unfortunately he was but a small sampling where there once was many.

But as we steer the Delorean back to modern day America, the church is once again on the rise.  Perhaps no greater single example can be made lately then what happened on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial this past August 28th.  Over a half million people gathered in Washington to pray, worship, repent and seek the mercy and compassion of God on behalf of America.  There was no mention of politics but rather a call to the restoration of honor by instilling the virtues of faith, hope and charity.  In addition, men and women who exemplified these traits in their lives were publicly recognized and honored.

Nearing the conclusion of the day's schedule, 240 ministers, rabbi's, priests, imams, and other assorted clergy representing various religions and church denominations banded together locking arm in arm, recalling the birth of The Black Robe Regiment in the late 1700's.
The Black Robe Regiment arose from the pulpits across the colonies during the Revolutionary War. The movement had its beginnings with Reverend Peter Muhlenberg in 1776.  Upon concluding his Sunday sermon on the book of Ecclesiastes, declaring "In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away. There is a time to fight, and that time is now coming!" Muhlenberg then removed his black robe reveling a full military uniform. Marching to the rear of his church he declared "Who among you is with me? On that day 300 men from his congregation stood up and joined Muhlenberg in the fight for liberty.  This group went on to become the 8th Virginia Brigade fighting for liberty.

Although this group of modern day clergy held many different beliefs as it pertains to their respective religions, these courageous men and women recognized the importance of the guiding principles of a man's character is something this nation is lacking, particularly in Washington. Faith, Hope and Charity are quantifiable truths that when implemented, will lead to the restoration of honor. These are fundamental golden rules of life that everyone could agree on. This display of unified independence was a vow before God and man they would no longer be silenced, they would fight and speak truth into the culture of today, regardless of the circumstances.

Not surprisingly, the reaction of the political left and media is looking to combat this with flailing accusations of hatred, racisim and backwards thinking.  Then there are the fringe left extremist jumping up and down screaming "Separation of Church and State, Separation of Church and State"  Of course if they had read the constitution as they often claim being in the 1st amendment, they would clearly see it is not and never was in any of our founding documents.

When they look up the history and it's foundation from a letter penned by Thomas Jefferson to a Baptist Church in Danbury, CT, they usually become further incensed upon learning Jefferson was responding to their concerns of a possible National Religion such as the one they fought to be free of: "The Church of England"  Jefferson assured them through separation of church and state, all states are free to pursue their own religions and church affiliation without fear of government reprisal.

Beginning in 1947, the secular and progressive courts began to pick away at this by either omitting Jefferson's words or conveniently editing select passages in order to systematically begin man's legal removal of God and prayer from public, government and judicial institutions.  I personally find it to be no coincidence that the beginning of our slow demise in every facet of our lives began in 1962 after the removal of prayers from public schools

The stage is now set for the latest gauntlet throw down to the progressives and secularlists.  At least 100, and perhaps as many as several hundred Christian pastors on Sunday September 26th spoke out on biblical issues and the political candidates concerning the November election in direct violation of Internal Revenue Service regulations. They are now packaging up recordings or transcripts of their sermons and sending them to the IRS, with a dare to the government agency to come after them for their comments.

This Pulpit Freedom Sunday is part of the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) Pulpit Initiative, which is set up to secure First Amendment rights of pastors in the pulpit.

The essence of the program is to create a challenge to the IRS rules adopted in 1954 at the behest of then-Sen. Lyndon Johnson that prohibit any speech from a church pulpit favoring or opposing a political candidate. The rules were adopted after Johnson found himself bearing the brunt of critical comments from Christian pastors concerned about his behavior in Washington. Before then, according to the ADF, pastors spoke freely from their pulpits even about specific candidates, issues and elections.

"The IRS should not be used as a political tool to advance the agenda of radical groups bent on silencing the voice of the church and inhibiting religious freedom," Erik Stanley, also a senior counsel for the ADF, said. "It is ironic that a group with a name like 'Americans United for Separation of Church and State' continues to exploit a scheme of massive government monitoring and surveillance of churches."

Rather than risk confrontation, many pastors have self-censored their speech, afraid to apply the teachings of Scripture to specific candidates or elections. The participants in Pulpit Freedom Sunday 2010 are taking a stand against being intimidated into sacrificing their First Amendment rights and now they have the support of the majority of rational thinking Americans.  Pastors and the church have the absolute right to freedom of speech despite the progressive attempts to censor them.

Incidentally, there were reported to be thousands of other clergy in the crowds in support of the Black Robe Regiment but only 240 were bought on stage to signify it's resurrection after 240 years.  It was estimated that all numbers in terms of church membership of those that were represented on the Washington mall that day came to approximately 150 million people!

"My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord.
'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

America is two hundred and thirty four years old. Our democracy has thrived longer than any government in history aside from certain generational monarchy's, yet we remain the most powerful, influential and compassionate country in the world but yet we are still one of it's youngest nations. Most types of governments hardly last a generation with few exceptions.

Our incredible success speaks volumes to the wisdom and heart of the founding fathers along with the courageous men, women and children that stood by their side.  They acknowledged if the great American experiment had a chance to succeed, it's foundation MUST be rooted in the love of Heaven, abiding in His instructions.

"Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you: don't turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate thereon day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success"

The Eradication of a Free Press

The fastest increasing quantity on the planet today is the amount of information we are generating. The matter one absorbs from this data will more often than not impact a personal choice or decision. Apparently the majority of the American press and media executives do not trust the citizens with accurate political knowledge, thereby earning the right to impose their bias by filtering the digital messages on how a story will be framed or simply omitted.

Freedom of the press was once a fundamental core to our democracy. This mandate stipulates that "A press that is free to investigate and criticize the government is absolutely essential in a nation that practices self government and is therefore dependent on an educated and enlightened citizenry"

Although Thomas Jefferson was often hammered by the press in his presidency, he still wrote the following to Lafayette in 1823:

"The only security of all is in a free press. The force of public opinion cannot be resisted when permitted freely to be expressed. The agitation it produces must be submitted to. It is necessary to keep the waters pure"

I wonder how Thomas and the boys would behave in the age of the digital download? Consider the plight of Joe the plumber after candidate Obama solicited votes in his neighborhood. Unfortunately for Joe he had the audacity of hope to question the accuracy of the economic numbers being promoted. An open microphone inadvertently leaks the now infamous quote "Hey, I just want to take some money and spread the wealth around"

Within 48 hours the state of Ohio's government authorizes an investigation into Joe while leaking all of his business and personal information for front page news across the country. Reporters and lawyers were literally pilfering through his garbage cans for the despicable motivation of discrediting, humiliating and ultimately destroying a man for asking a question. A query that without fail should have been sought by someone in the press.

While we will obviously will never know, my thinking is the revolutionary boys from the class of 1776 might take some of their muskets and shove into the scores of low life corrupt government officials along with their counterparts in the media that participated in this charade.

No matter which party affiliation you are aligned with, everyone who has a modicum of objectivity recognizes there is a cover up now in the press of which has never been seen before. You can't play little league in the U.S. without a birth certificate but now you can sit in the oval office without one? Lou Dobbs merely suggested this was a legitimate question that should be addressed. For this he was run off his job with CNN after serving as anchor with the company since it's inception in 1980. Naturally this was accompanied with chants of birther or racist and than followed up with gun shots into his home in NJ...but no...no need for concern here folks...just move along please.... just keep moving along....that's right folks, no news here...just keep moving....

We have recently witnessed one of the most outrageous federal money laundering schemes exposed with the brave assistance of two novice film students. They went undercover in various ACORN offices while documenting their accounts on video, but yet received such little media attention. When Charlie Gibson was asked on radio why as anchor of ABC News he was not reporting the story, his pathetic excuse was "I was unaware of it, probably just something for those cable news outlets"

NEWS FLASH ABC NEWS > The revelation of attempting to knowingly work with child prostitution schemes, VOTER REGISTRATION FRAUD, wrongful filing for financial assistance, playing multi million dollar shell games with over THREE HUNDRED non for profit companies under the government funded front called ACORN, eventually proved to large to hide. An FBI investigation forced it to close down their doors. But fear not ABC, ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis declared they will be back but this time under new company names. Now that Diane Sawyer is in charge of Disney's corporate news division, I am sure things will change.....

There are countless stories and questions surrounding this administration, members of congress and corruption on the state and local levels. The egregious acts here is the complicity of the press to only cover violations on the right while attempting to squash or bury those on the left.

How can you possibly NOT REPORT or cover up over ONE MILLION people PEACEFULLY protesting the actions of this administration in front of the white house last September 12th???

Yet when 9 members of Code Pink were voicing their disapproval of the Bush administration on the steps of the capitol, the editor of the NY times considers this to be a worthy lead story for the cover of the newspaper???

The fight for valid political analysis can certainly be covered in editorials or opinion formatted programs: but don't you think attempting to dupe the public because you can't trust the common folks with their votes is an abuse of power?

By this very definition, the press and media are now failing their country....

A Choice for Living

While riding congress down the home stretch leading to the vote on Obamacare, the administration reached a sudden bucking from it's own mule that threatened to derail the party from crossing the finish line. After close to a year of battling America to pass legislation the country was overwhelmingly opposed to, the end was clearly in sight. This cleverly disguised marketing campaign was now threatening to come to a halt once again from within it's own ranks. Had they not bribed every necessary senator, congress man or woman, pharmaceutical company, corporation and special interest group along with all of the trial lawyers for their votes? They did so with hundreds of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars, what now? what more could they want?

Once again, the decision to give life or take it comes to the forefront. Oh no!!!....not that word again, no...not....ABORTION!

Remember congressman Stupak and a small group of colleagues insisted that no government funding of abortion be provided for in this legislation?

Well sure....the administration recalled that. Months before they sent out their two most prominent Catholics to address the clergy: John Kerry & Nancy Pelosi, reminding ministers of the Gospel that Obamacare was a MORAL obligation now. Therefore they should preach this from their pulpits. As if this was not pathetic enough to watch and listen to, strangely enough the mimes of the left did not cite any foul from crossing the boundaries from "Separation of Church and State"? After all, this has been one of their favorite themes when attacking anyone on the right for merely mentioning God in the same sentence as society or political law

Personally I chuckle at the obvious contradictions since the liberals have always falsely argued separation of church and state. They will never discuss it's origin from Thomas Jefferson in 1802 along with it's intent. For a century and a half the courts correctly interpreted Jefferson's phrase as a mandate to protect Christian expressions in the public square. This has been twisted in recent years by the left to be a judicially-enforced policy of public secularism.

Back to Nancy, John and morality. Apparently their efforts were squashed by the leaders of the Catholic church. At one point last year, Nancy even visited the Vatican for a an attempted PR photo session with the Pope but he quickly dismissed the San Francisco congresswoman from such a distasteful ploy. The other two hi-profile political Catholics: Joe Biden and Congressman Kennedy had already been publicly chided by the bishops for support of abortion since this flies in direct contradiction to the FUNDAMENTAL teachings of the church.

Gallup polls released the majority of Americans are pro-life by a 9% differential. Clearly the pressure was mounting, everyone knows the abortion business is big money for "Planned Parenthood" and they are clearly in the democrats pockets. Mr Obama steps out with a bold move when addressing the concerns of government funded abortions. On radio, he issues the following:

"There are some folks out there who are BEARING FALSE WITNESS (notice the smooth adaptation to church language), but I want everyone to know government funding of abortion is not true. These are all fabrications that have been put out there to discourage people from meeting what I consider a core ETHICAL and MORAL OBLIGATION"

There...that should settle it once and for all. Fast forward to Mr Bart Stupack, who insists Mr Obama's word is not good enough. After all, I think he and the rest of the country heard Nancy address a group of progressives beforehand saying "We NEED to sign the bill in order to find out what is ACTUALLY in the BILL" Of course with logic like this coming from the house congressional leader, why should America be suspicious of ulterior motives?

OK, Bart...OK...I get it responds Mr Obama. I will sign a congressional order and put it in writing but only on the condition that no one in the press is allowed in at this signing. Finally the mule stops bucking, the order is in writing with Mr Obama's signature and they cross the finish line as the finger slides past the nose, directly reminiscent of Newman and Redford in "The Sting"

Recently house minority leader John Boehner writes a letter to Human Health and Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Mr Obama asking how is the new law protecting use of government funds for abortion going to be enforced? Now call me cynical but is this the same former governor Kathleen Sebelius from Kansas? the only remaining state to leagalize late term abortions? Gee that's funny, several weeks go by with either party responding

Oh now I understand....you see last week we come to find out the state of Pennsylvania is getting $160 MILLION DOLLARS from FEDERALLY FUNDED US TAXPAYERS for a new hi risk government insurance pool to cover ANY LEGAL ABORTION.... with New Mexico coming in next at $37 MILLION DOLLARS including ELECTIVE ABORTIONS!!!

Consider this is only the first two states that we know of, do you really think many others are not right behind them?....and so the new stage of federal money laundering is now in play...but now we are using children's lives with it!

Perhaps those "BEARING FALSE WITNESS" words from Mr Obama along with "ETHICAL and MORAL OBLIGATION" were somehow misconstrued?

The atrocity of taking a child's life with barbaric and foreign instruments at any stage of pregnancy is clearly one of the most heinous acts mankind has displayed, but now this administration and congress are making it even easier to do so. As a nation, we are reaching the lowest stages of character known in our history. We have sunk to such despair, we are now murdering innocent children for power, money and votes.

The word of God teaches us about Him, ourselves and the relationship between us. In this, the Lord clearly states "I knew you BEFORE you were in your mothers womb" Elsewhere he reveals that "For I know the plans I am planning for you declares the Lord, plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and an expectancy"

The birth of a child is an absolute miracle. The security of the womb should never be breached. Our founding documents declare that our rights come from God and not from the government. We have no right to take that child's life but we have every obligation to defend their right to live it

While parts of society attempt to hide behind the guise of "It's a woman's choice", in their heart of hearts everyone inherently knows that abortion is murder. They also know it is wrong. These children are precious in God's sight...and always should be in ours as well.

I hope as a nation we continue to press in, pray and hold our politicians and leaders accountable to their word....and their signature. A child's future now depends on it more than ever!

Respect the Wisdom of the Elderly

I was taught from a very young age to respect my elders otherwise risk losing respect of others toward you. I have very fond memories and lessons learned from seniors whom have crossed my path. I am richer and wiser today as a result of these experiences. For me it was my grandparents, followed by uncles, aunts and cousins and to the strangers whom by the end of our conversations were now referred to as friend.

My best friend in the early stages of manhood was my father. He was entering his senior years while I was becoming a young adult. Although his council and wisdom might be jaded by the love and admiration from his 3rd son, it remained insightful, beneficial and valuable...and still does to this day.

I love listening to seniors reminisce with poetic affection of days gone by but still have the swagger and strength to speak from the heart about wrongs they see today. As I now look back on the close of summer my mind is filled with images of countless numbers of seniors attending town hall meetings. Although the politicians and state controlled media outlets are mocking them with blind ambition driven by greed and self grandeur, I on the other hand would like to stop and thank them.

They have been around the block more than a few times and can see the obvious health care con and chose to let their voices be heard. They arrived in most instances far more informed than the Congressmen or Senators that are supposed to be representing them. They had the chutzpah to actually read the proposed legislation and know they are being railroaded.

They have identified the obvious;

The urgency that this must be done before the summer recess

A completely staged and rigged presidential infomercial

Lies about the language of the documents

Lies about the impact on our current policies

Lies about doctors surgical procedures and it's costs

Lies about the uninsured

Lies about the added costs

Lies about the added deficit

Union buy outs and pay offs

Sending in SEIU union goons and Acorn activists to muscle and shout their way into meetings

...and most recently so desperate to gather the clergy to make a last minute appeal of morality!

Now we are supposed to believe they suddenly have discovered a moral conscience but not ulterior motives? Be wise, respect and listen to your elders...they saw this one coming a mile away

Sarah Adapts the Run & Gun Offense

The former point guard from the girls basketball team in Wasilla, Alaska appears to have some in the media and Washington playing on their heels, not quite sure how to react to Mrs Palin's recent change in strategy. The press reaction to her resignation looks reminiscent of nervous players sensing a change in the game's momentum. Crying foul to their readers, the referee or in this case the people, shrug their shoulders as if to say there was no contact.

While the liberal minded are still in control of the game clock, there is tangible evidence of nervous perspiration and quivering lips present in the home court stands. This illumination was never more apparent than Sarah's recent schooling of David Letterman on the art of good and bad public relations. While Mr Letterman is tall in physical stature, his personal shots at one of the Palin's daughters was directly blocked from his mouth. Having been embarrassed by the diminutive Alaskan's verbal stuff, he attempted another shot with a back court pass in the form of a lame apology which was immediately called for "delay of game" by the public. Matt Lauer enters the fray as a sideline announcer, looking to coax her out of the one on one aggressive defense back into a softer zone style, enabling Dave to post up using his much larger New York audience. Refusing to back down, she quickly steals the spotlight and confidently launches a long jump shot with a resounding swish. Left with no answers, Dave whimpers a more elaborate and somewhat sincere apology yet again.

I have no doubt the second round was merely a response to remove the immediate pressure he now found himself in. If this was just about bad comedy, the sustained interest would not have been present. Everyone knew Dave was attempting to run up the political score with zero interest toward the comedic value of his words. Letterman was literally trash talking while everyone was at the snack stands but were now suddenly drawn back into the competition of the air waves.

Next comes the move no one saw coming; the announcement of stepping down as governor. The collective opposition appeared visibly shaken and began hurling childish insults everywhere. For weeks we have witnessed the constant theme of "Sarah the Quitter" being branded like a Madison Avenue advertising campaign. Regardless of where an individuals politics reside, anyone with a modicum of objectivity will acknowledge this woman has been barraged by some of the most despicable hatred and slander ever witnessed in America. She has been labeled and demonized as this dumb, stupid, back woods, wet behind the ear, ignorant thinking bimbo. Yet she just may have some things to teach the sophisticated and elitist thinking progressives of modern America.

The Democratic game plan of endless ethics accusations appears to have back fired. Perhaps I am naive but her strategy may just be sheer brilliant. Without even knowing what hit them, Sarah juked in the open court with a 180 degree spin move launching her from the distant state of Alaska directly onto the National stage, perhaps for good.

In doing so, she leaves the state with her policies in place, than crisply passes the ball to her trusted teammate and like minded Lieutenant Governor. He will serve in office for the remainder of this term plus if re-elected, can run for an additional four years after that. This potentially translates into ten plus years of conservative foundational policies for Alaska. Presented with her approval ratings as governor, this scenario is easily foreseeable.

I know the press took issue with the narrative of her departing speech but once again, she just may be several steps ahead of the mainstream curve. Call me a sucker but I am ready to hedge my bet that the former Alaskan beauty queen is becoming a quick study of the current political and social landscape. I refer to Sarah's own words as she bid a fond farewell:

"We are responsible for ourselves and our families and our future, and fifty years later, please let's not start believing that government is the answer. It can't make you happy or healthy or wealthy or wise. What can? It is the wisdom of the people and our families and our small businesses, and industrious individuals, and it is God's grace, helping those who help themselves, and then this allows that very generous voluntary hand up that we're known for, enthusiastically providing those who need it"

Reminiscent of a savvy visiting athlete playing on the New York court, Sarah looks the camera in the eye and responds to the taunts with a wink and a smile. The psychology of competition is on, she is clearly in their heads.

An American Birthday with Heart

America is two hundred and thirty three years old today. Our democracy has thrived longer than any government in history aside from certain generational monarchy's, yet we remain one of the youngest country's in the world. Most types of governments hardly last a generation with few exceptions. Our incredible success speaks volumes to the wisdom and heart of the founding fathers along with the courageous men, women and children that stood by their side.

As we celebrate our nations birthday, the empire on the Potomac is actively undermining American freedoms today by attempting to expand it's tentacles into every aspect of our lives. This represents a 180 degree change from the model framed in our constitution. Our government is drowning in debt while it continues to spend more of the peoples money rather than instill business structure and implement strategies. Taxes, inflation, bankruptcy, foreclosures and unemployment are all rising while the value of the dollar is plummeting. Many countries are now pressing to remove the dollar as the world's economic standard of currency.

This administartion invaded the banking and auto industry. Now they are attempting to hijack the health care and energy businesses. Congress is attacking our economy with cap & trade all in the name of Al Gore's global warming fantasy! We cannot accurately forecast next week's weather but we know what the earth will look like in 100 years? Come on Al, I know you invented the internet but are we really supposed to trust the government to step in and save the world from itself?

Make no mistake, the executive branch and congress are arrogantly stating they know better than the United States citizens. The irony is the politicians are supposed to be working for the people but yet the philosophy employed in Washington today operates under the reverse assumption; The people will work for the government if we tell them.

We are only 165 days into this administration yet we are witnessing the rumbling that began on tax day now turn to a slow roar. There is a movement swelling amongst the people that common sense will prevail, not the pomposity of politicians. There were over 2,000 tea party rallies this week-end, an increase of almost 300% since the 700 plus on April 15th. The numbers dwarf the Vietnam protests but unfortunately the state run media refuse to cover this phenomena. Sadly the press finds the death of Michael Jackson more compelling than the social unrest of a nation.

Rather than allowing dejection to enter in, the people are digging in harder. They have already scheduled a new round of tea parties for September 12th. I suspect the fans of socialism and facism have underestimated the resolve of the United States. Perhaps they might want to look back at September 12th, 2001 because the love of country that beat in so many tickers that day may be on the verge of resuscitation. From the early colonial days until today, it has always been about our heart. Happy birthday America.

Real Torture is Linked to Political Alzheimers Disease

As expected, the white house adheres to the demands of the socialist elite by re-writing American military rules of engagement with prisoners of war. I find it hard to conceive of things more pathetic than suits in Washington government and New York media outlets claiming the moral high ground concerning torture. Have they listened to themselves lately? The hypocrisy emanating from these individuals can only be professionally diagnosed as political alzheimer's disease.

Before offering these cynics some ginko biloba, let me mention one of the only three prisoners that were so abused in Guantanamo. His name is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, you may remember seeing his disheveled face on the news after the American military captured him during a secret raid in Pakistan. Not only was he one of Osama Bin Laden's closest aides, he was the one that created the plan and supervised the training of four kamikaze airplane attacks on 9/11. If this threat was not sufficient; consider his role in orchestrating the first world trade bombings in 1993, the US embassy bombings in Tanzania and Kenya in '98 and the suicide boat ramming of the USS Cole in Yemen in 2000. These examples are but only a few, all in all there are 31 different scenarios he admitted to participating in around the globe as reported during his trial and in the 9/11 commission report. Conservative estimates are this one man is responsible for approximately 30,000 murders. That would place him in the company of Hitler, Stalin or Idi Amin as one of the most brutal and evil men in the history of civilization.

Think of the outrage that the U.S. might have the audacity to use sensory deprivation, prolonged isolation, nakedness, stressful positions or simulated drowning, i.e., water boarding in order to obtain possible future plans of terrorism! Excuse me if I might want to vomit on the ACLU or the National Lawyers Guild over their self indulged grandstanding. While Nancy Pelosi suddenly falls prey to amnesia, fortunately CIA Director and Democrat Leon Panetta along with Republican Dick Cheney have a sack and won't cower in front of these hacks.

Where were the protests from the Human Rights Watch or Amnesty International when this same man slowly beheaded reporter Daniel Pearl? He even bragged about this barbarous act and pointed us to watch the filming on Arabic web sites as he carried around and displayed the man's head. Somehow I did not learn of offers of assistance to Mrs Pearl to advocate on her behalf from The International Red Cross or the Human Rights Watch?

Debate and inquiry into what constitutionalizes torture while asking if it should be used is legitimate. However, we should never publicly play Monday morning quarterback while at war for the sake of political appeasement; especially when lives may be at stake. In order to satisfy a very small quadrant of vocal liberals, this administration along with congress continue to take steps reminiscent of undisciplined school children.

First comes the debacle of presidential orders to close Guantanamo with no plan on how to make this transition happen. Follow this up by attempting to prosecute members of the CIA for using pre-approved enhanced interrogation techniques. Having been publicly and verbally chided for even attempting such lunacy, they turn their venom towards the lawyers who wrote the laws for the military. If they continue at this pace, they may have a new script idea which can be pitched to Hollywood in an attempt to bring back "Ally McBeal"

Torture is having battery cables connected to one's personal areas, being placed in a stressful position which causes bones to break or limbs to pop, pliers to fingers, removal of teeth or hammers to toes. These are history's examples of wartime interrogation so pardon me if I don't buy the garbage being sold that we are instigating more violence rather than perpetuating peace. Like it or not, radical Islam declared Jihad on America and the west in 1979 with the Islamic revolution in Iran. The cause was catapulted to victory on the battlefield by holding and torturing 52 American hostages for 444 days. This was thanks in large part due to the gross negligence and naively passive policies of the Carter administration.

We must always remember history in order to prevent history from repeating itself. Make no mistake, the recent history of the jihadist memory also includes the bombings of the US marine barracks in Beirut, victory over the Soviet super power in Afghanistan along with Mogadishu, Somalia and Black Hawk Down. They also include the coordinated Madrid train explosions in '04, the 7 London transportation system bombings in '05 and the most recent 78 murders suffered in Mumbai this past November. Thankfully our military uses the same instances to learn from but it is unforgivable that our politicians quickly forget them.

While this may be an old cliche, it still rings true today; "War is Hell"...and I might also add listening to politicians like Nancy Pelosi, Dick Durbin or John Murthow should be considered war.

The Sopranos come to Washington

Who da thunk it? Looks like some of the affluent in DC have been inspired by America's favorite Fagmila from New Jersey. Noticing the numbers were in need of some massaging, the union boyz from Detroit paid a visit to capitol hill last December looking to collect from their share of the November heist they were hired to help perpetrate. Reminiscent of scenes from "The Godfather", the bosses showed up ready to testify with their respective conciglieres, congressmen stepped to the microphones, light bulbs began to flash and the show was on. The initial shakedown from the American public was close to 20 billion, give or take a few.

After several days of testimonies and meetings, only two of Detroit's three family's accepted the offer for Washington's protection. One can only imagine the reasoning behind Ford's suddenly new found revelation they did not need the money. The next logical question was whom is going to be assigned the role of enforcer now that Washington had ponied up. Perhaps not wanting to taint the mafia stereotype, the boys thought it might be a good idea to take a cue from Moscow and introduce Steve Rattner as the new "Car Czar"

By March it was apparent that GM was not capable of delivering on their take. Word went to the street an example needed to be made, the next day CEO Rick Wagoner was asked to quietly step aside. Eventually Chrysler was no longer cable of sustaining it's overhead and debt, something needed to be done. The Capo di tutti capi had seen enough and assembled all party's involved for a discussion.

Considering they delivered the necessary goods on their end, the union comes to the table claiming Cosa Nostra. The DC family apparently agrees and decides to buy out Chrysler's actual investors by offering approximately .30c on the dollar, take it or leave it. Keep in mind these investors were in for over 6.8 billion dollars, representing approximately 20 hedge fund and investment firms. This money represents ordinary American citizen's retirement and savings accounts, not some fat cat Wall Street tycoons this administration likes to depict them as by using the broadest of paint strokes. They were publicly called greedy speculators, criminals and vultures. These American businesses invested American money in an American car company and were being shaken down by the American government.

Initially the firms thought better of this offer by deciding to take their chances in bankruptcy court, where they had good reason to believe .60c on the dollar would be a more reasonable scenario. The government sends in it's muscle in the form of the press corp, threatening to expose names and family members. After all, did they really need to remind them how they persuaded Acorn to rent buses of people to picket and threaten AIG family members in front of their homes? I would not be surprised if this assurance would come with a giant inflatable rat ready to take residence in front of certain houses.

Sixteen firms flinched after public chastisement by deciding to reconsider the offer for protection. Four firms have stayed the course while one attorney had the courage to go on public record outlining in detail how the government was threatening him and the company he was representing. In the interim, our government has decided to fore go the vig on the UAW 4 billion dollar bridge loan along with the 3.2 billion necessary for bankruptcy proceedings...Hey, what do we say as a matter of good faith we tear up the notes all together and start from scratch? The union receives 55% ownership and the government gets 8 points for keeping things properly cleaned. Next we arrange a marriage with our Italian friends at Fiat and have them join the party. After all, they are la famigla!

Arrivederci!

There is a rumbling in the distance....

Potentially millions of Americans researching the foundational documents of this nation has many in this administration and the media running for political cover. They do so in a very condescending manner which sadly appears to be a vain attempt to claim intellectual superiority. As hundreds of thousands of individuals gathered in peaceful protests on D day for taxes, the first line of defense orders were issued to the media with instructions to marginalize these efforts by insulting them with sophomoric homosexual innuendos. Watching CNN news anchor Cooper Anderson and David Gergin giggle like little school children while musing on "tea bagging", was enough to turn back network news legitimacy 40 years. I am sure legendary newsmen like Edward R Murrow and Walter Cronkite would cringe at the current landscape of today's news journalisim. Despite their best efforts to turn down the volume of the tea parities, their bias and prejuidice had the opposite effect of it's intention.

While the first infantry lies wounded and hemorrhaging for days on the evening news and internet, two more strategies immerge from the war rooms carrying the flags of racism and right wing conspiracy. Once again the flagship station of government propaganda leads the way by sending out comedian Janeane Garofalo as the iconic liberal voice of reasoning. She declares this movement is nothing more than flat out racism sparked by some ignorant thinking citizens. I for one am glad this network does not support the influence of hate speeches.

Simultaneously certain members of congress, the white house staff and democratic chatter boxes launch into tirades by lauding this movement as nothing more than feeble attempts by the Republican party to gain some much needed leverage. Under normal circumstances this might be considered somewhat amusing, but in light of the times and climate in which we live the response is alarming. Despite their best efforts to deflect criticism rather than listen, it has become more apparent than ever that Washington, New York and Hollywood cannot be trusted to have the American people's best interest in mind.

Seeing the movement becoming stronger and more emboldened after the 15th of April, a last ditch effort sadly comes weeks later from the chairman of this administration. He chastised these very same American people on his 100 day anniversary for not comprehending the gravity and enormity of our situation. Once again the underlying strategy was almost identical as the main stream media; minimize the protests with self assumed intellectual superiority. Instead of mocking them as the media attempted, Mr Obama decided to try and poke fun at the logic of these protests. Clearly ordinary citizens cannot possess the capacity to process the enormous complexities necessary to grow and expand government and spend our way out of recession like he can, so why even go there to begin with?

How dare we challenge the wisdom of this man and question his decision making ability? How dare we invite logic and common sense to the tables with these issues? How dare we express concern about the future of our country? How dare we insist on real debates and exchange of ideas? How dare we challenge the congress to read the 800 billion dollar tarp bail out's before signing them? How dare we hold our elected officials accountable to their word concerning no more pork spending? How dare we examine the veracity of legal decisions based on merits of philosophy and not the actual laws? How dare we cling to our guns and our religion? (ooppss...thought I was only addressing people in Pennsylvania?) How dare we invoke our first amendment rights to peacefully assemble and protest? How dare we pray and seek wisdom from God and not from government?

While obviously not privy to matters of discussion by the British monarchy concerning the unrest of the early colonists, I can easily imagine that some may have been enraged by the audacity to challenge their authority. England tried to intimidate and bully them with the expansion of government laws and fear tactics. We also know from examining the history of this nation, the freedoms sought and gained by our founders came at an enormous price. The foundation of these sacrifices were courage, integrity and the willingness to voice opinions towards unjust actions.

Thomas Jefferson once wrote "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; ... when the government fears the people, there is liberty". I suspect if Thomas and some of his friends, perhaps the likes of Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams and George Washington might have felt right at home in some of these protests, dare I say they may have even been proud. I am sure they would have encouraged us to strive for liberty because no matter the price, this foundational principle enables everyone a chance to obtain their dreams.

There is a core of unrest spreading across this nation amongst rebublicans, democrats, independents, libertarians, conservatives and undecided voters. Ordinary American citizens inherently know we are being lied to, manipulated, cheated, stolen from, underestimated and taken for granted. People are sounding the alarms all over this land, both blue states and red states. There appears to be a rumbling in the distance.....

Hollywood Bombs at the Political Box Office

The writers script or screenplay will often determine the success or failure of a movie. Studios are naturally looking for a well paced story line with a good plot, perhaps some action, suspense or comedic elements, pristine character development along with a terrific ending. While this does not ensure ultimate success with the audience, it does however start to stack the deck in favor of the films investors. Couple this formula with an exceptional marketing strategy and you could have a box office bonanza on your hands. Hollywood has made it blatantly clear that a democrat in the white house is their definition of the perfect ending.

They have depicted the villains in their social drama as the Republican party. Since most movies are fictional and encourage limitless boundaries in the writing process, Hollywood has given itself the right of artistic license when interpreting the political landscape. They somehow feel it's their first amendment duty to aid the American voter to see things their way rather than trusting free and independent evaluation.

We should always applaud the efforts of people to espouse their political beliefs, regardless of party loyalties or philosophies. But somehow the elite and power brokers of Hollywood do not trust the American voters and so they would rather instill a highly organized movement designed to push the social agenda by abusing their sphere of influence. They do so mainly with coordinating enormous sums of money simply because they can. Although they attempt to hide behind the facade of social reasoning, their masks have been removed far to early to save this movie.

Regardless of the outcome of this upcoming election, Hollywood has made it clear they will do whatever they can and by whatever means possible to ensure a Democrat in the white House. My concern as an average American is since Hollywood insists on playing a major role in the election, what part are they currently auditioning for in this newly elected socialist government? Make no mistake, they are rolling out billions (yes....billions) of dollars and expecting a large return on their investment.

Although they are loud and powerful, they are still the minority when it comes to the light of truth in this country. Decency, respect, integrity and freedom are words that you will not find in their screenplay. They would much rather concentrate on lies, deceit, assassination of character and bigotry. Their research must show that this is the way to line the box office. The problem is most people can tell the difference between reality and fiction. After all, Hollywood always tries to make it seem real even though we know it's not.

Searching for Political Truth....

Picture the intensity on Tom Cruise's face when he & Jack Nicholson square off during the infamous courtroom scene of "A Few Good Men". Cruise's character demands "I want the truth" to which Nicholson defiantly retorts "You can't handle the truth" Right up until the next few scenes of the movie when Jack finally takes the bait and practically spits the words "Your damn right I ordered the code red", definitive truth has not yet been revealed and threatens not to be accounted for. Even more sadly is the definition and consequences of this truth is defined differently by many characters in the courtroom. The conclusion however leaves the audience no doubt as to what the truth is and the necessity for closure with accountability.

As the title of this blog reveals, truth is definitive, it can and should be qualified and most importantly must be sought. Spin doctoring truth is being practiced by all sides of religious, political, social, scientific, educational and entertainment spectrum's in order to promote subjective conclusions rather than objective analysis. Just like a court of law, truth at times may need to be tried and argued for, but in the end it is absolute.

Observing the political tactics in the upcoming US presidential election, one can easily conclude the battle strategies are creating the headline rather than investing in content. The more headlines galvanized, the more battles won. The more battles won will hopefully lead to an election victory. Sadly the costs of these battles are rarely accounted for before firing the weapons of words delivered by all political parties and the media. Lies, dishonesty and bias have become not only the norm in our society but has slithered it's way as acceptable behavior.

The wages of our current political elections are leaving individual character lying wounded on the front pages of newspapers, integrity is being dragged down by television network executives and responsibility is threatened by lawyers looming in dark and secret crevices. I will always remain optimistic about America's resolve, ingenuity and fortitude but the concern that our senses are slowly becoming dulled by the constant bombardment of appeasement is very real. Our individual and collective freedoms are precious and most certainly that of speech. Although freedom of speech opposes regulation, we still have a responsibility to the preservation of definitive truth....even in a political election.
